Description

I myself might be inclined to use it as a vase rather than a watering can (or simply to put it on a shelf to display as an object) but the handle on the back certainly makes it functional for watering the plants

I find this snapshot quite extraordinary

and I especially love things that are self-referential

but such is life

with a flush wooden stem on one end and just right protrusion on the other

"This is to Remember Me When I am Ded", Peter's 19th C. Ink and Watercolor Double Portrait school sampler I myself might be inclinedThis is to remember me The grass is green The rose is red This is left When I am ded. Signed what looks like Peter S. Burgard; I have turned up a Peter Gurgard born in 1822 in Rhineland Palatinate, Germany, married in 1850 in Erie, NY, which seems about right to me, period wise and in terms of the costumes here but I don't know for certain. There were a few scraps of notes included with it (see photos) noting it was purchased along with a 1829 fraktur
