The rod is in mint condition. The taper is based on an FE Thomas Fairy rod. The rod is handsomely tempered in a style the maker calls "tortoise shell" flaming. The guide wraps are a transparent caramel color. The winding check is also caramel but with black, black and gold jasper, and burgundy tipping followed by 6 bands of a chestnut
