I think it makes for quite a satisfying tabletop object just on its own--the wood is beautiful and the elongated egg form really elegant--though it would be fun to see it put to use as the topper for a whole new construction

It is easy to believe that people used to put these out for guests to see if they'd try to bite into them

with terrific graphics (and choices of words to illustrate) all the way through

and surely someone else could use as pair as well

though perhaps it is a little too refined
