I am fairly certain this lovely small Japanese lacquer on papier mache box dates to Meiji period

No holes for mounting on this one but it would be fairly early to drill a couple

Charming Early 20th C Western Meadowlark on Branch by Charles Weddle lee rosen plus the half blackI purchased this very charming carved Western Meadowlark from a seller in Kansas as it should be, as it's the Kansas State bird. Folky but finely done, and with radiant yellow belly, I believe it is about half scale of the actual bird 4 5 8" from tip of beak to tip off tail feathers. It is signed on the underside of the branch to which it is attached by Charles Weddle, who I understand was an early 20th century Kansas based folk artist. Great
