complete with paper lanterns hanging from the awnings-- and it looks like the couple here are quite enjoying themselves

There were probably once at least as few more drawers to make a complete grid

and sense of being specific individuals

No way to loose track of one's spools or scissors with this guy around--though I think even if one hasn't sewed a stitch in one's life

Beautiful Old Japanese Shoe Maker's Pattern/Template (Last One) stone cut print hand-carved of what I thinkA year or two ago I purchased a handful of Japanese cobbler's patterns from a dealer friend in Maine and have sold them over time; this one is the last. What I know is that they were brought back from Japan years ago, retrieved from the archive of a shoemaker's workshop long since closed. I don't know enough about shoe or boot construction to read this as a pattern, but believe the quilt like collaging of silver and gold paper and blue and white
